We acquired this lot of “King Grade” Big Red Robe (Da Hung Pao) tea back in 2005 at a tea wholesaler in Xiamen, China. Made from the few remaining true Da Hung Pao cultivars from the cliffs of the Wu Yi Mountains, this beautifully aged “King Grade” Big Red Robe is truly a masterpiece. The dried leaves have a spicy, earthy, peachy, and fruity aroma. The tea broth is remarkably smooth with a very pronounced yet subtle sweet aftertaste.
Origin: Wuyi, Fujian
We recommend using Chinese Yixing (purple clay) or porcelain tea ware. Rinse tea cup and teapot with hot water. Fill the teapot half-full with tea leaves, or 2 grams of tea leaves for every 150ml of water if you are not using Yixing teapot. Steep tea leaves in hot water at 95°c (203°F) for 1 minute for the first and second brewing. Gradually increase steeping time for subsequent brewing.
